Lots

Lots has been happening lately. Too much to keep track of!  This is crunch week. Audrey has to finish her online applications for NC State and UNC Chapel Hill.  State is due Nov. 1st and Carolina’s deadline is Nov. 3rd.  In addition, on Friday (Halloween) we are having a party (yeah come on down) with about 30 teenagers (just shoot me now). Should be a wild time.  If I live to tell about it, check here next week or so.

Sam’s Scout Cuboree last weekend was a lot of fun.  His dad took him Friday night to the Belk Scout Camp in Midland, NC and set up the tent in the rain (hehehe) and they spent a wet night.  I brought Rebecca on Saturday afternoon and dad left.  Sam, Rebecca and I had a not-so-wet night on Saturday.  However, the sleeping bags were still pretty wet so we slept on top of them with blankets.  It was VERY cold. But sitting around the campfire with all the other kids and parents was a blast.  We have agreed we will do it again but we have a list of things we will do differently.  (1) get rubber mattresses or some sort of cushion to put under the sleeping bags, (2) get a propane stove for cooking, (3) use a tarp under the tent, (4) pitch the tent at the TOP of the slope, not the bottom, in case of rain. They apparently had a river running through the tent. Not a fun thing to wake up to at 2:00 am.

There were about 3 moms there … I was one of them. I thought this would bother me, but it didn’t. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Nice group of folks.

So check back for more adventures!  And keep your fingers crossed for the party.  <G>

See picture of Sam and Rebecca sitting by the fire.  Sam looks very handsome in his scout uniform.
